Use Airtable to Update Webflow CMS Items: Part 1

You can use Airtable as an editing interface for Webflow CMS content. The workflow sends Airtable changes to the matching Webflow item.

Import the existing items first

Bring the relevant Webflow items into Airtable. Save each item's Webflow ID beside the editable fields. Do not match items only by their names. Names and slugs can change.

Trigger one update

An Airtable button can open a webhook URL containing a record reference. A URL parameter is visible and editable. It should not authorize arbitrary writes by itself. Use a controlled receiver that checks the request and loads permitted fields from the intended record.

In Zapier, receive the trigger, retrieve the Airtable record, and update the saved Webflow item ID. Separate updating staged content from publishing it. Webflow's CMS API explains staged and live items.

Test the mapping

Use one draft item. Change its title in Airtable and run the update. Confirm Webflow keeps the same item ID. Check that unrelated fields and items remain unchanged. Test a missing Webflow ID. Stop for review instead of creating a duplicate item.
